The Match Factory appoints former Netflix executive as VP Acquisitions

Global distribution and production company Match Factory, part of streaming and production company Mubi, has appointed former Netflix executive Marc van den Bosch-Mprah as VP Acquisitions.

The newly created position is based in Berlin and van den Bosch-Mprah will report to Michael Weber, General Manager, effective immediately, to lead Match Factory’s global acquisition strategy.

Van den Bosch-Mprah most recently worked at Netflix, where he spent the last two years as Head of Acquisitions and Co-Productions in German-speaking Europe and led negotiations on a long-term partnership for Constantin’s theatrical releases in the region. He was also a co-producer of films, series and documentaries, including “Early Birds”, Netflix’s first Swiss production.

Van den Bosch-Mprah has more than 15 years of experience in the film and television industry. Before joining Netflix, he held senior positions at European television giant RTL, Warner Bros. and Viacom.

Weber said: “Marc’s expertise in acquisition strategy, distribution and local co-production is a perfect fit with our goal of strengthening our global presence. Marc’s talent for connecting creative content with market opportunities, combined with our deep understanding of the international acquisition and co-production landscape, creates a strong synergy that makes him a central part of our global growth initiatives.”

The appointment comes as Match Factory prepares for the fall festivals, where in Venice the company will present Athina Rachel Tsangari’s Harvest, Türker Süer’s Edge of Night and the Quay Brothers’ Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass. In Toronto the company will have a large program including Joshua Oppenheimer’s The End and several titles from Venice and Cannes.
