The Monterey Beach Hotel embodies relaxed Californian style

The Monterey Beach Hotel, part of Marriott’s Tribute portfolio, is the result of a redesign and rebranding initiative.

Originally built in 1967, the hotel is the only beachfront hotel on the Monterey Peninsula and offers more than 600 feet of exclusive shoreline. It features 192 guest rooms, including four suites, all with unobstructed ocean or garden views.

Los Angeles-based IndiDesign – led by Highgate’s in-house design and engineering studio LUCID – designed the property’s interiors to capture California’s effortless, relaxed lifestyle and organic landscapes.

The design team assembled custom furniture and collaborated with local artists – including Jessica Bovert, Emily Hess, Jess Soriano and James Aarons – to create the space with multi-media installations, handcrafted ceramic wall pieces and vibrant murals.

The homey atmosphere is enhanced by furnishings with muted wood accents and natural tones, while natural materials are used in the common areas and dining spaces to create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.

The opening will also introduce three new chef-driven dining venues: the lively lobby lounge, the beachfront Tidewater and the hotel’s signature restaurant, the Lantern Room, whose nautical-inspired design was created by San Francisco-based ROY Hospitality.
