The new BMW M5 station wagon gets bold individual colors

When BMW introduced the M5 Touring last week, they played it safe with the body color. The press photos showed the G99 in Frozen Deep Gray. However, with the show car from Pebble Beach – an example in Isle of Man Green – the luxury brand went a little bolder. You can find the full range of customization options in the BMW Individual Visualizer tool.

Fortunately, the website has already been updated to include the long-awaited super estate. We’ve decided to highlight some of the most striking colors here. However, we’re barely scratching the surface, as dozens of individual colors are offered for the third-generation M5 Touring. On the regular BMW website in Germany, the only individual colors shown are Storm Bay and the aforementioned matte Frozen Deep Gray.

From Java Green and Speed Yellow to Sepia Brown and Ruby Red, the M5 Touring is available in all possible individual colors. BMW says that up to 150 colors are available for the G99, which is built exclusively in Dingolfing. The G90 is also built there and offers almost identical customization options. It is worth noting, however, that the sedan is the only body variant that is optionally available with a carbon roof.

BMW has already introduced M Performance Parts for its AMG E63 estate rival, with an Alpine White example fitted with carbon fibre extras. Alloy wheels will be launched for the sedan next summer, and there’s a good chance the estate will get them too. Whether the M5 will be offered with centre-lock wheels has not yet been decided. It would make sense considering they are available on the M2, M3 and M4 models.

Another way to jazz up the long-roof M5 is with matte side decals with M Performance branding. The brake calipers on the standard M compound brakes are red or black. If you opt for the carbon ceramic brakes, the calipers have a striking gold look.

Customizing the M car that can do anything isn’t cheap considering the base model starts at $122,675. The competition isn’t exactly affordable either, with both the AMG E63 and Audi RS6 in the same league.
