The Rings of Power story update practically confirms that another group of characters will appear in the show

A recent Rings of Power The season two update revealed that the Stoors will appear in upcoming episodes, and this practically confirms that another group of characters from JRR Tolkien’s lore will appear at some point. The Rings of Power Season 2 starts on August 29, 2024 and takes viewers back to the Second Age of Middle Earth. After Sauron’s return, the elves will have their hands full in the coming season. Per Weekly entertainment, The Rings of Power will feature the Stoors in its second season – one of the three groups that are the ancestors of the Hobbits. The Stoors have this in common with the Harfoots, although both groups are only briefly described in Tolkien’s books. By including the Stoors, The Rings of Power risks a repeat of the Harfoot controversy from Season 1. It makes sense to include more Hobbit ancestors now that the Harfoots are present. And the introduction of the Stoors practically confirms that the last group of hobbit ancestors will appear at some point in the series.

They are the last group of Hobbit ancestors

Tolkien describes three ancestors of the Hobbits in The companions, and we will probably see them all during The Rings of Power‘s run. With the Harfoots playing a major role in the first season and the Stoors appearing in season 2, it’s only a matter of time before the Fallohides show up. The Amazon series seems to prepare the creation of the Hobbits during the depiction of the Second Age, probably as an attempt to connect to The Lord of the Rings Story.

This approach has caused some controversy, since Tolkien does not suggest that the Hobbits’ ancestors accomplished anything of note before the Third Age. The Rings of Power explores this unused piece of knowledgemaking the backstories of the Harfoots and Stoors more detailed. Since the Fallohides are also important to the creation of the hobbits, it seems inevitable that they will receive a similar treatment. They may not appear in The rings of Performance Season 2, but they will probably make an appearance before the end of the series.

Who are the Fallohides in JRR Tolkien’s lore?

They are hobbit ancestors living in the forest

Although Tolkien’s story does not revolve around the Fallohids – or any of the Hobbits’ ancestors – they have a solid history in Middle-earth. The Fallohids lived in the forests of the Great Shelfalthough it wasn’t called that back then (via Fandom.com). Living here gave them a love of nature and trees, and made them more adventurous than groups like the Harfoots. They followed the Harfoots for a time, but eventually took a different route to what would become the Shire.

The detail about the pursuit of the Harfoots could prove important in The Rings of Poweras it is an easy way to incorporate the Fallohides into the story of the Amazon show. According to Tolkien’s lore The Fallohids also maintained relations with the other peoples of Middle-earth and were the first hobbits to use the common language of Middle-earth. This gives them an easy way to The Rings of Powers conflict, as they seem to be more involved in the affairs of Middle-earth than the Harfoots and Stoors.

It would not make sense for the Rings of Power to exclude the Fallohides now

Excluding them would be a strange decision for the Amazon show

With The Rings of Power Since both the Harfoots and the Stoors are featured, it wouldn’t make sense for the Amazon series to exclude the Fallohides. The show clearly has plans for the hobbits’ ancestors, and leaving out the Fallohides would be conspicuous and bizarre. The fact that the Fallohides are the most likely group to become involved in a major conflict would make such a decision even stranger. Needless to say, The Rings of Power must include all three groups to do justice to the backstory of the Hobbits.
