The Studio B exhibition features artists inspired by the colours of the rainbow

Studio B in Boyertown announced the opening of an invitational exhibition titled “Roy G Biv,” showcasing artists inspired by the colors of the rainbow.

The show opens on Friday, September 13th with a public reception from 5pm to 7pm. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

According to gallery director Susan Biebuyck, the exhibition was inspired by 17th-century scientist Isaac Newton’s explanation of the rainbow.

“Newton explained the rainbow by sending light through a prism and identified the visible spectrum as seven different colors, represented by the acronym ‘Roy G Biv.’ Our exhibition is a collection of artwork by artists whose creativity acted like a prism – they refracted, bent and expanded their interpretations of each color into a range of styles and techniques,” Biebuyck said in the press release.

“Color inspires. With its ability to instantly express a wide range of emotions, it is the language of the visual arts,” she said.

Studio B organized an exhibition of the same name in 2012.

“The exhibition was well received at the time and we have received proposals to repeat the theme over the past twelve years. Several of the artists featured in 2012 are returning, but we have invited a dozen more,” said Biebuyck.

The exhibition runs until November 10th and is open to the public free of charge.

Regular gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 2pm or by appointment at 610-367-8066. For more information about Studio B, visit https://www.studiobbb.org/.
