“The View” presenter takes on additional role

According to reports, Whoopi Goldberg will take on the role of Miss Hannigan in the musical “Annie” in New York City this winter.

The 68-year-old co-host of the popular show “The View” will appear in the show at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, according to Broadway World.

“I love the theater and I think there is no better way to spend the holidays than to be back on stage,” Goldberg said, according to Broadway World. “I can’t wait to step into the wonderful role of Miss Hannigan and perform in front of the biggest audience in the world – in my hometown of New York City.”

According to Parade Magazine, the musical will run from December 4, 2024 to January 5, 2025.

“ANNIE is a celebration of family and what can happen when you hold on to hope. We’re excited to kick off our new 2024-2025 tour at the legendary Chicago Theatre – coming with a little ray of sunshine when we all need it most,” Tony Award-winning composer Charles Strouse said, according to the report. “It’s also a dream come true to bring ANNIE back to New York City for the first time in 10 years, just in time for the holidays. And having the legendary Whoopi Goldberg join the company and make her first ever appearance in a production of ANNIE is a gift to all of us! I know Martin and Tom would be thrilled, too.”
