Behr Paint Co. has announced its Color of the Year 2025: Rumors, a deep, dynamic ruby red.
According to experts, red is on trend and the latest study by Behr found that “a majority of Americans feel empowered by using the color red in their home decor.”
In addition, the study found that three-quarters (76 percent) of Americans say they would consider painting a room or wall a shade of red. At the top of their wish list are accent walls, bedrooms and front doors.
“We’re seeing people embrace color more than ever before,” said Erika Woelfel, the paint maker’s vice president of color and creative services. “Rumors is a modern take on the timeless red that has an energetic appeal and makes a lasting statement in a stunning way.”
To celebrate Rumors, Behr is hosting a sweepstakes on Instagram and TikTok with a $10,000 prize to help the winner “make a statement with Rumors at home.”
After a few years of herbal tones and soft reds – such as Blank Canvas 2023 – Behr initially took a darker turn with its choice of Color of the Year 2024 when it decided Cracked Pepper, PPU18-01, was described as a “soft black” and was the main color, with the company writing at the time that it “exudes both confidence and sophistication.”
