One sport has already begun while another is starting its season as the 2024-25 school year begins this week. Women’s soccer continues with the second week of its two-game home season, while men’s soccer opens its regular season at No. 5 Stanford on Thursday and begins the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, the 25th.

Women’s football
Record: 0-1-1, 0-0 MW
This week: The Spartans will play two games at the Spartan Soccer Complex. Thursday, August 22nd against UC Davis at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 25th against Northeastern at noon.
Last week: SJSU opened the season with two games. The Spartans lost their season opener to No. 22 Santa Clara 4-0 on Thursday, August 15, and fought to a 0-0 tie with Saint Mary’s on Sunday, August 18.
Spartan fact: Junior Bente Pernot moved up two different SJSU women’s soccer all-time stat lists this past weekend. Pernot recorded her 11th career shutout on Sunday and is now tied with Amee Brown (1996-99) for third place on the SJSU all-time career shutout list. With two saves in Sunday’s shutout, Pernot also moved into sole possession of seventh place on the SJSU all-time career saves list with 170 saves.

This week: The Spartans will open their 2024 season on the road before returning home for their first home game of the season at the Spartan Soccer Complex – Thursday, August 22 at 7 p.m. at No. 5 Stanford and Sunday, August 25 at 3 p.m. against CSU Bakersfield.
Spartan fact: Last week, Angel Iniguez was named 2024 WAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year by the conference’s head coaches in the WAC Men’s Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll.
