Thousands attended the Oklahoma Comic-Con, which is scheduled to return to Tulsa in 2025

Thousands of people attended the Oklahoma Comic-Con at the Cox Business Convention Center this weekend.

Fans were able to meet more than two dozen celebrities.

Both newcomers and people who have attended Comic-Cons in other cities all said they were surprised by how interested people in Green Country are in Comic-Con culture, and they hope to see more events like this in Tulsa.

Voice acting was a big hit over the weekend, especially the voice of Super Mario.

Orion Springer, who was there for the first time, said: “Getting a photo with Charles Martinet is literally one of the best things I have ever experienced in my life.”

Another attendee, TJ Williams, said: “He signed our copy of Mario Odyssey, the first game he and I ever played through together, the copy he bought with his own birthday money.”

Williams has been to other Comic-Cons, but this weekend was the first for his son Grayson.

Williams says it’s special to share this experience with his son. It’s a great way to do something they both love and a reason to get out of the house.

“We spend all summer indoors playing games. Then we go out and see the characters and see people enjoying the things we like and have fun with them. It’s good practice,” Williams said.

Williams wore a Luigi Ghostbusters costume, but the other costumes sparked his creativity.

“Even if it’s something I don’t know personally, like Luigi or Ghostbusters, I like to hear from the people who are most excited about it,” Williams said.

Riley Finch attended Comic-Con for the first time. She says the exciting atmosphere makes her want to come back next year.

Riley Finch, a participant, said, “I feel like everyone feels represented in some way. I really like Stranger Things merchandise and I didn’t expect to find so much Stranger Things merchandise and I did. This is really cool.”

And in case you missed the event, Scott Inness, the voice of Scooby Doo, has a message for Green Country.

“So if you didn’t come and see us at Comic-Con today, you missed out, but the good news is we’ll be back next year, Scooby Dooby-Doo and so will Channel 6,” said Inness.

Oklahoma Comic-Con says it will hold the event next year at approximately the same time and location in Tulsa.
