Titans QB Will Levis hands out cologne spritzer samples from his new Mayo endorsement deal

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Will Levis became a perfume salesman on Wednesday after Tennessee first joint practice with the The Seattle Seahawksand sprayed reporters’ wrists with the new fragrance developed as part of his new advertising deal with a mayonnaise company.

“Will Levis No 8” is, yes, a Parfum de Mayonnaise, which sold out quickly on Tuesday for the hefty price of $8 a bottle, and another shipment came out on Wednesday morning.

A whiff of the samples offered by Levis contained citrus and coffee notes for the quarterback, who gained attention during his college years in Kentucky when he put mayo in his coffee. The reaction after the 40-second commercial took place immediately after the release.

“We didn’t anticipate how people would react to it, but I think it lasted about an hour and then it was gone,” Levis said. “And $8 a bottle. It goes to a good cause. And it’s just a really fun partnership where we continue to do fun things. So it’s been amazing to see how this has all evolved.”

Levis makes sure his teammates get a bottle.

“They are just so surprised that it doesn’t smell bad and smells good,” Levis said.

The Titans’ starting quarterback is entering his second NFL season and this endorsement deal is unique. He thanked the Titans for allowing him to film the commercial on the team’s property, where both the practice field and the indoor field were available.

Levi’s was involved in the development process of this unique fragrance and was sent bottles for feedback. He compared the smell to the lobby of a resort or hotel and was so busy that he didn’t check his social media mentions or texts.

He gets the joke, because the commercial is serious. Levis appears to be drinking from a jar of mayonnaise and at one point eats mayo off his finger while lying on the field.

“As silly and stupid as it was, the more seriously I took it, the funnier it would become,” Levis said.

That’s the approach the Titans need from the second-year quarterback, selected 33rd out of Kentucky in the 2023 draft. Levis went 3-6, then Tennessee fired Mike Vrabel as coach and hired Brian Callahan to improve the offense.

Tennessee has also spent a lot of money and draft capital to surround Levis with support staff.

General Manager Ran Carthon signs wide receiver Calvin Ridley And Tyler BoydCenter Lloyd Cushenberry and running back Tony Pollard in free agency. He also drafted new left tackle JC Latham from Alabama in 7th place overall.

How well Callahan’s offense goes depends on how well the 6’4″ Levis harmonizes with his new teammates.

Three-time Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins is out due to a knee injuryand Boyd is day-to-day with a bruised foot. Levis tried to partner with Ridley on Wednesday against a Seattle defense that was up to the challenge. The biggest completions came from Jha’Quan Jackson, who completed a pair of long TD runs.

Ridley took the blame for being out of position on some of Levis’ long passes after taking the ball away from his defender and then braking a little too much.

“I just had to keep running at full speed,” Ridley said.

These joint training sessions include teams with head coaches in their first year in the Brian Callahan of the Titans and Mike Macdonald for Seattle. Callahan was the offensive coordinator in Cincinnati before being hired, while Macdonald oversaw Baltimore’s defense before his new job.

Callahan watched the Titans’ offensive tactics on Wednesday while Macdonald watched the defense. Macdonald said he wanted to get more exercise in the second session on Thursday before Saturday night’s preseason game.

The Titans coach couldn’t wait to watch the video of how his defense finished against Seattle.

Newly signed safety Quandre Diggs worked with Titans safety Amani Hooker. Cornerbacks L’Jarius Sneed did not practice as his playing time is limited, and Chidobe Awuzie watched part of the practice as he recovers from a calf injury.

With Hopkins out, Treylon Burks stopped for a long ball and limped a bit before heading to practice with a trainer. Callahan said it was simply cramping on one of the hottest days of training camp.
