What to do if you find downed power lines?

Stay at least six meters away from downed power lines and keep children and pets indoors.

DTE Energy said it must be assumed that all downed power lines are live and pose a danger.

You can report downed lines by calling DTE Energy at 800-477-4747 or Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050.

If you believe the downed power line poses an immediate danger to the public, you should call 911.

Fallen live wires can spin around in search of a ground, sparking or arcing. Live wires that have found their ground may not move at all or make any noise, but they are still dangerous.
