Travis Scott released from prison after brawl outside hotel in Paris

“Travis Scott was released without charge,” the spokesman said.

Paris:

French police released US star rapper Travis Scott on Saturday after 36 hours in detention in Paris on suspicion of violence, a US-based representative for the artist and prosecutors said.

The 33-year-old, who has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards, was arrested after being involved in a brawl with one of his own security guards at a five-star hotel in Paris.

“Travis Scott was released without charge,” the spokesman said.

The Paris public prosecutor’s office confirmed “today’s release of Travis Scott from custody and the discontinuation of the proceedings due to insufficient evidence.”

Police were called to the Georges V hotel early Friday and arrested the rapper for “violence against a security guard” who intervened to separate the artist from his bodyguard, prosecutors said.

A US representative for Scott said later that evening that management was “in direct contact with the Paris authorities to resolve the matter quickly.”

Mr Scott was seen attending the Olympics men’s basketball semi-finals on Thursday night.

The rapper, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, had previously come into conflict with the law in the USA.

The music star was arrested in Miami Beach in June for trespassing and drunkenness. Police said he was involved in a fight on a yacht.

In November 2021, ten people were killed in a crush during his show at a pop festival in his hometown of Houston, Texas.

But he continues to be a prolific songwriter and producer. Scott’s “Utopia” was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards. And he has merchandising deals with Nike, video game maker Epic Games and fast-food chain McDonald’s.

Scott has two children with social media influencer and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner.
