Tropical Storm Debby, New England rainfall totals – NBC Boston

This afternoon it will be increasingly cloudy, with a few isolated showers and drizzle.

Overall, it will be a pleasant weekend with rather cool temperatures for this time of year, between 24 and 25 degrees in southern New England and between 25 and 25 degrees in the northern regions, where the sun shines more.

After that, all eyes will turn to Debby, which will move up the Appalachian ridge Friday into Saturday. Fortunately, the current forecast and Debby’s ongoing development will spare large parts of New England from widespread downpours.

Rainfall expected in Maine, NH and Vermont

The focus from Friday night to Saturday morning will be on Vermont, northern New Hampshire and northern Maine, where the greatest risk of flash flooding exists with expected rainfall of 2.5 to 7.5 centimeters.

Rainfall will be less pronounced in the rest of the region, but some unexpected showers may cause localized flooding.

Coastal and northern New England winds increase

Southerly winds will suddenly pick up along the coast and northern New England Friday evening, with gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour through Saturday morning, easing during the afternoon.

Although the danger is low, a few brief tornadoes are possible, especially in western New England Friday afternoon and in Vermont, northern New Hampshire and Maine early Saturday morning.

Debby’s remains won’t last long

Conditions will improve rapidly on Saturday afternoon so we can salvage the rest of the weekend!

Have a nice afternoon!
