Ukrainian authorities order evacuation of families from Pokrovsk as Russian troops approach

Authorities in Pokrovskan eastern Ukrainian city of 53,000 people, has ordered the evacuation of all families with children. The order, announced on Monday, comes as Russian troops rapidly approach the outskirts of the city.
Due to the rapid advance of Russian forces on the city, a mandatory evacuation order was issued on Monday.
“We are beginning the forced evacuation of families with children from the Pokrovsk municipality,” said Donetsk Governor Vadym Filashkin.
Located at the crossroads of a key road supplying Ukrainian troops and cities along the Eastern Front, Pokrovsk has long been a target of the Russian Army.
The authorities stressed that it was obligatory for the families to leave Pokrovsk and the surrounding cities.
Ukraine third Russian bridge damaged

According to Ukrainian officials, the main goal of the attack on the Kursk region, which borders eastern Ukraine, is to create a buffer zone and strain Russia’s military resources. This came more than two years after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a message on the messaging app Telegram on Monday: “We are achieving our goals.”
