UMaine Extension 4-H offers online info session for prospective volunteers -Piscataquis Observer

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension is hosting a two-part online information session from 6 to 7 p.m. for adults interested in volunteering with Maine 4-H.

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension is hosting a two-part online information session for adults interested in volunteering with Maine 4-H on Wednesday, September 18 and 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

“Start Your 4-H Volunteer Journey” provides participants with information about the UMaine Extension 4-H youth development program in four short e-learning modules. Participants also participate in an experiential educational activity, learn key aspects of positive youth development, and are introduced to the ages and developmental stages of youth. The two one-hour virtual sessions conclude with an overview of next steps and an introduction to a county contact who can assist with the application process if desired.

A 4-H volunteer is many things: a mentor, counselor, friend, teacher, referee, role model, pacesetter and so much more. 4-H volunteers have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of children, teach them valuable skills, help them develop a positive self-image, achieve personal goals and experience success.

The information sessions are free, but registration is required on the program website at https://extension.umaine.edu/4h/start-your-4-h-volunteer-journey-training/.
