URBANA – A 48-year-old Urbana man is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm in an incident that occurred in the early morning hours and left two victims hospitalized, authorities said Saturday.

Urbana police said Maurice Conley was arrested around 5:48 a.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Philo Road, just over two hours after they responded to a call about shootings in the city.

The 911 call came in at about 3:32 a.m. When police arrived at the scene of the accident in the 2000 block of Vawter Street, the two victims had already been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

One person was shot in the arm, the other in the upper body.

Police ask anyone with further information to call 217-384-2320. Arrangements can be made for the information to be shared confidentially.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may also submit tips to Crime Stoppers by phone at 217-373-TIPS (217-373-8477), online at 373tips.com or through the P3 Tips mobile app.
