US consumer protection agency warns: Color Tree strollers are dangerous for children

If you are pushing your child in a Color Tree stroller, stop. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to stop using and discard the strollers because they pose a risk of entanglement or strangulation for children.

“The products violate federal stroller safety regulations because a child’s head can become trapped between the seats and handles, creating a strangulation hazard,” the agency said in a press release on Thursday.

What are Color Tree strollers?

Color Tree strollers have a black frame and grab handle and a gray fabric seat and canopy, the CPSC said. “COLOR TREE” is printed on the canopy and “Karmas Far Inc.” is printed on the back of the seat frame.

The strollers were sold on Karmasfar.us, Amazon.com, Walmart.com and Ebay.com from November 2021 to November 2023 for $90 to $120.

Color Tree Toy Co. Ltd, based in Ningbo, China, sells baby products and toys imported through SmartTech Mobile USA Inc. in Jacksonville and Karmas Far Inc. of Rancho Cucamonga, California. Neither importer has yet initiated a recall of the strollers, the CPSC said.

On Amazon, Color Tree Toy explains that the company’s goal is to “always put children’s safety first. We want our products to make parents feel good and children have fun.”

I have a Color Tree stroller. How do I dispose of it?

The CSPC advises consumers to remove the wheels, then remove the handlebar, fabric seat and canopy and discard the disassembled parts.

“Do not sell or give away these dangerous strollers,” the CSPC said. Report injuries or product defects to SaferProducts.gov.

Have other strollers been recalled?

In recent years, various types of strollers have been recalled for safety reasons.
