Weather in Las Vegas | News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News

Our next weather forecaster will continue to bring gusty winds to the region, coupled with cooling into the weekend…

A RED FLAG WARNING (also known as a Fire Weather Warning) is in effect until 11:00 p.m. Friday due to sustained south/southwest winds of 15-25 mph with wind gusts around 30-40 mph. Strong winds combined with dry weather (relative humidity 5-15% during the day) would result in rapid fire spread if a fire does break out. People are advised not to engage in outdoor activities such as target shooting as this may result in sparks being generated near dry vegetation.

A WIND WARNING is also in effect from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday for the Lake Mead area down to Laughlin. Gusty winds will create choppy lake waters with wave heights of 2-3 feet. Small boats are asked to stay off the water until conditions improve.

TODAY: This morning, lows dropped above 77 degrees for the first time since June 20. We’ll have plenty of sunshine throughout the day in Las Vegas, with below-average highs this afternoon around 90-91 degrees. Winds will be out of the south at 15-25 mph, with higher gusts around 30 mph. Winds up to 30-40 mph are possible this evening, favoring the western valley.

The air quality is classified as “good” to “moderate” in terms of ground-level ozone and dust. Pollen levels are low.

TONIGHT: Skies will be mostly clear tonight, with valley lows dropping to around 74 degrees overnight. Winds will continue to be southwest at 10-15 mph, with gusts around 30 mph expected after midnight.

YOUR DAY 7: Saturday will continue to be windy, with highs in the valley around 35 degrees. Calmer weather is expected as a low pressure system moves into the Intermountain West region.

Temperatures will climb back into triple digits early next week. Highs in the Valley will be between 38 and 41 degrees Monday through NEXT weekend. There are signs that monsoon moisture may return to parts of the Southwest. For now, that looks to be mostly limited to Arizona on Monday and Tuesday.

There is some uncertainty about the impact of another weather maker next weekend as a disturbance moves inland from Southern California.

Stay here for more updates and have a nice weekend!
