What I read in July 2024.What I read in July 2024.

I’m still in the middle of some of my best summer reading! I feel like I lost a week of reading material while on vacation (hence this post being so late) – no point if you don’t know what it’s like to go on vacation with kids haha. But I still read some great books. Some of my favorite books of the entire summer!

I shared my huge summer reading list a few months ago – you can find it here.

Let me know what you read below.

I have a Book of the Month membership – I love it so much. I got a few books there this month. I get so many of my new releases and debut books there. You can sign up for it here.

All of these books are linked through the bookstore (when available!) and I highly recommend you shop there as you’re supporting your local indie bookstore. You can choose the local bookstore you want to support! I support Penguin Books when I shop, it’s my favorite here in Pittsburgh.

WHAT I READ IN JULY 2024

Jackpot Summer – 4 stars

This was my favorite read of the month! It was so sweet. The story is about four siblings who enter the Powerball lottery and become millionaires overnight. The family drama and dynamics in this story are out of this world – if you have multiple siblings, I think it’s a must-read. The ending is so, so good. Also so interesting about lottery winners and the stereotypes we’ve always heard about. Such a good summer read!

The Summer Pact – 3 Stars

I always love reading Emily Giffin. This story is about four college friends who are struck by tragedy in their senior year and make a pact to always be there for each other. A decade later, they travel together after one of them reaches out to them during a difficult time in her life. This felt a little convoluted to me and while I enjoyed it, it was also a little long-winded at times. It also seemed kind of unrealistic!!

A new summer – 4 stars

I love Jamie Brenner’s books!! I love that they are usually set in Provincetown and this one is no different. We follow an author, Shelby, who has hurt her friends in town with her best-selling novel. She is working on her next book and helping a friend in her (adorable!) bookstore. Here she ends up making up for some of the mistakes. And of course we have love!! Such a great ending and heartwarming story. Jamie does Provincetown like Elin does Nantucket!

The Ex-Vows – 5 Stars

Oh my gosh – I loved this SO MUCH. I was hooked from the start. I love love stories that last a lifetime. We follow Eli and Georgia, who broke up years ago but now have to reunite for their best friend’s wedding. The wedding is a drama and the two must work together to make the day perfect. I absolutely loved this story. Love stories that offer second chances have captured my heart. I also loved this author’s first book!

A perfect couple – 4.5 stars

I just had to put a thriller in there!! I love Ruth Ware’s books. The story is about Lyla and Nico who are on a reality dating show. They are on a remote island, there is lots of drama, storms and they are cut off from the rest of the world. I COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN!!! Maybe it’s because we live in the age of reality dating shows but it was so good and I was so intrigued. I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. I loved the twists and turns and even though some of the people are so unlikeable, it is such a good read. A great summer novel!
