Even some of the “weaker” editions of the character, such as those by Charles Soule, have received moderately positive critical reception. Which Batman villain was best reinvented?
Since Batman is an icon that’s over 80 years old, many of his villains have received major revamps in the comics as well. The hero is considered one of the best villains in the superhero genre, but some of today’s most memorable villains have been reinvented to achieve that fame. The Joker, despite appearing alongside Batman in 1940, is arguably popular today thanks to what writer Dennis O’Neil and artist Neal Adams did in “Joker’s Five-Way Revenge.” A similar thing could be said about Two-Face, but outside of the comics, Mr. Freeze in Paul Dini and Bruce Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series is probably the most well-known. With or without those examples, which Batman villains have been best reinvented?
