Where to book your post-Emmys getaway

Whether you’re in front of the camera or behind the scenes on set, writing a story about the television industry, or offering your talents to said story, the first half of 2024 has been a busy year for the entertainment industry.

After winning two Emmy Awards in a single year, it’s time to relax. And there’s hardly a better place to do that than Europe. This time, we’re focusing on the northern region of Italy and introducing you to some hotels you shouldn’t miss on your next Italian vacation.

Hotel Baglioni

For guests on a larger budget, Baglioni is a must-see. The palazzo, located around the corner from St. Mark’s Square, is one of the oldest in Venice, built in 1118. Converted from a monastery into a noble palace of the Knights Templar, the hotel is decorated with Murano chandeliers and stunning watercolors. With a total of 68 rooms and 36 suites, the intimate setting allows for a personal, magical getaway.

Hotel Papadopoli Venice

Not only is this boutique hotel within walking distance of the Grand Canal and St. Mark’s Square, but it’s also close enough to Venice train station that getting there and back (even with luggage) is a breeze. With just 96 rooms and suites, elegance is the number one priority at this hotel. One important tip: if you can afford it, splurge on a suite. The stunning views of the canal and city from the balcony will make you never want to leave.

Monteverdi Tuscany

Sina Villa Medici

Whether you’re looking to see the sights of Florence or are looking for a quiet poolside retreat, check out this five-star resort in the heart of the city. The historic 19th-century palazzo features a luxurious garden and pool, as well as Harry’s Bar the Garden restaurant, the ideal stop-off point for a busy day. The Medici Chapel, Ponte Vecchio and Piazzale Michelangelo are all within walking distance.

Monteverdi Tuscany

For those looking to relax for a weekend away from Italy’s hectic cities, this hilltop luxury hotel surrounded by the Val d’Orcia is a tranquil, stunning escape. Along with a state-of-the-art spa and wellness center, the rooms, suites and private homes are set in the medieval village of Castiglioncello del Trinoro. Entertainment is offered year-round, including cooking classes, interactive five-course dinners, wine tastings and day trips to Tuscan hilltop towns. Plus, you can dine at the delicious new Zita restaurant, which opened in June.

Villa La Massa

Built in the 13th century as a country house for an aristocratic Florentine family, Villa La Massa is now a luxury hotel located between Florence and the Chianti region of Tuscany on the banks of the Arno River. The hotel accommodations – 24 rooms and 30 suites – are housed in six historic buildings, including a Tuscan farmhouse with its own kitchen for larger groups. The resort features a pool area surrounded by lemon and cypress trees and offers a top-notch spa, cooking classes and guided wine tours. It is located 25 minutes outside the city of Florence. It is the sister hotel to the legendary Villa d’Este on Lake Como.
