Whoscall and CCIB’s Mother’s Day campaign protects your loved ones from online fraud

Gogolook, a leading TrustTech technology company and developer of Whoscall App, an application that identifies unknown incoming calls and prevents spam for smartphones, is collaborating with the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) to launch a special Mother’s Day campaign with a new awareness video #NoOneHangUpFasterThanYourMom and an offer of Whoscall Premium base code aimed at protecting family members from online fraud.

According to the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), more than 575,500 cybercrime cases were reported in Thailand, causing a total loss of over 65.715 billion baht, an average daily loss of 80 million baht between March 2022 and June 2024. Notably, 64% of these cases involved women aged 30 to 60 and above, accounting for a significant proportion of more than 248,000 cases. The new campaign is therefore part of Whoscall’s relentless commitment to prevent online fraud and empower families to protect their loved ones.

Ms. Monprapa Rattanakanokporn, Country Marketing Lead of Gogolook (Thailand), the provider of the Whoscall application, said: “Protecting our loved ones, especially from online scammers, is more important than ever. While many of us are vigilant to avoid suspicious calls, our mothers may not be. Our recent findings have shown that seniors are the most vulnerable target for online and phone fraud as they have large financial assets such as savings, pensions or retirement funds and are less comfortable with complex technology. Currently, Whoscall is one of the most popular digital anti-fraud apps in Thailand. We are delighted to partner with CCIB to release an educational video highlighting the importance of vigilance and offering a free premium code for the Whoscall app as the ultimate gift of security and peace of mind for our loved ones.”

The new campaign video #NoOneHangUpFasterThanYourMom, released from today, uses examples to demonstrate the danger of online scams through unwanted calls and messages targeting elderly family members. The video features true stories verified and authorized by those involved and offers practical steps to protect mothers by downloading the Whoscall application and contacting the Cyber Police hotline 1441.

Lt. Col. Dr. Purimphat Thanaphansiri, Deputy Chief of Police of Division 4 of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, said: “The rise in cybercrime has raised public awareness, especially among the younger generations who are better able to identify and combat various fraud tactics. However, this awareness does not extend to mothers or the elderly. According to the latest CCIB statistics, middle-aged women and the elderly or mothers are the main targets of fraudsters. The biggest online fraud cases that have caused the most damage in Thailand are online investment scams, which have resulted in total damage of nearly 70 billion baht. This timely collaboration with Whoscall for Mother’s Day comes at a crucial time when online fraudsters are becoming more sophisticated, and we look forward to working with Whoscall to keep our communities safe and stay one step ahead to protect our most vulnerable group of citizens.”

As part of the Mother’s Day promotion, Whoscall is also offering 500,000 free two-month premium basic codes for both, worth over 29 million baht.

Those interested can help themselves and their mothers by entering the code WHOSCALLSAVEMOM here to enjoy features like automatic spam call blocking, automatically updated number database and SMS filtering. This offer is valid from today until August 31, 2024.
