Now season 2 is set to increase the tension, as Middle Earth descends into chaos after it turns out that the supposed King of the Southlands, Halbrand, is actually the dark ruler Sauron.

The Orcs’ struggle to make Mordor their home is led by Adar, a corrupted elf who became one of the first Uruk.. Although it is confirmed that Adar will return as a villain in the upcoming season, audiences will notice something different about the character. While Joseph Mawle played Adar in the first season of The Rings of Powerin season 2, Sam Hazeldine takes on the role instead. This may surprise fans of the series, especially given Adar’s role as one of the main villains in it. Why did Mawle leave the series and what does this mean for the future of his character?

Adar quickly established himself as one of the most interesting characters in The Rings of Powerbreaks with the cliché of the typically one-dimensional villains in The Lord of the Rings. Joseph Mawle’s gentle portrayal added to Adar’s character nuances, making it all the more surprising that the game of Thrones Actor will not return for season 2. It seems that Mawle has decided to leave the series, with the actor explaining his exit on Twitter. In a post that shortly followed the announcement that he would not return for season 2, The Rings of Power‘s next season, Mawle claimed he enjoyed his time on the show but felt he needed to explore new characters and stories in his careerTo ensure that there was no animosity between him and the series, the actor spoke to the cast and crew of The Rings of Power before you log off.
Mawle is not the only actor from The Rings of Powerwho will not appear in future episodes. Nazanin Boniadi has also left The Rings of Power before its second season. Unlike Mawle, Boniadi’s role has not been recast for the upcoming season, with the series instead holding out hope for the actress’ return at a later date. It may be that Adar was simply too important a character to write out of Season 2, forcing the showrunners to recast the role rather than wait for Mawle’s schedule to clear. As for his desire to pursue other stories and characters, Mawle appeared in several episodes of the Taylor Sheridan series. 1923 and will play the main role in the biblical epic The path of the wind.
