X-Factor star’s fiancé dies after falling from hotel window

The fiancé of a star from the boy band “X Factor” has died after falling from a hotel window.

Olly Marmon, whose partner was Union J’s James “Jaymi” Hensley, tragically died on Monday morning when he fell from the window of the Hind Hotel in Wellingborough, Northampton, reports the Mirror. Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 11.30pm on Sunday night, but Olly, 33, was pronounced dead around an hour later.

A 34-year-old man from Rushden, Northants, was arrested on suspicion of murder but has been released without charge. However, it was recently confirmed that investigators are no longer treating the case as a murder following the results of a forensic post-mortem examination.

Jaymi, 34, rose to fame when he reached the semi-finals of X Factor with Union J in 2012. He and Olly were just weeks away from their wedding day.

Olly’s family, including mum Julie and stepdad Steve Peacock, paid tribute to him. They said: “Words cannot express the devastation and grief I feel at the loss of my beautiful youngest son Oliver, who Olly has lost to his friends.”

“I can’t believe I have to write this. No mother should have to. The relationship I had with Oliver was so special, he was my best friend. We spoke every day. He called me mum, he called me his guardian angel.

“Oliver was so caring, loving, calm and always put others before himself. He was a very talented hairdresser and it was a passion he took seriously. More recently he worked in the garden with his stepdad Steve and loved it so much.

“He was spiritual and loved nature. He touched many lives and everyone he met fell in love with him. Steve referred to Oliver as his son.

“I will miss my little Oliver so much and don’t know how to carry on without him. Such a devastating loss for all our family including his brothers Ben and James and his sister Alex as well as his Aunt Loraine, Uncle Simon and cousin Sophie.”

Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell, who led the investigation into his death, said: “The investigation has been complex and fast-moving and our thoughts are with Olly’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. It is only right that an incident such as this is treated with the utmost seriousness to ensure we have done everything we can to understand what happened and to get the answers that those left behind need and want.”

“In Olly’s case, I can confirm that the evidence we examined does not support his death as a murder, which has now been further confirmed by the results of the preliminary forensic post-mortem report. Our initial findings and decision have been communicated to Olly’s family, who continue to be supported by Northamptonshire Police as they grieve the loss of their loved one. A 34-year-old man arrested in connection with this incident has been released without charge and is now assisting the investigation team with the post-mortem processes.”

Olly and Jaymi were together for 15 years after meeting at the age of 18. Last September, Jaymi paid tribute to his fiancée on their anniversary with a sweet social media post.

Alongside pictures of the two looking in love, the singer wrote: “14 years together and 1 year until we tie the knot!” Happy anniversary, @ollymarmon! When I think about our relationship so far, many beautiful quotes come to mind, but one that really sums it all up for me is from Her late Majesty QE2: “He was quite simply my strength and my support all these years!” I love you irrevocably and am so happy that in 365 days we will finally be Lord and Lord! 24 XXIV.”

Following his death, fans joined the anniversary post to pay tribute to Olly. One user wrote: “So sorry for your loss! Thinking of you, his family and friends at this tragic time. Rest in paradise Olly,” while another added: “So sorry to hear about Olly! Our thoughts are with you all.”

Olly’s father Leigh and stepmother Vanessa Marmon also paid tribute to him, writing: “My dear Oliver, I can’t believe I’m writing this. I would give my life to save yours. I’m battling every emotion imaginable, sadness, anger, guilt, the list goes on.”

“I know you knew how much you were loved. I was so proud of you and all you accomplished. You’ve been places I can only dream of. Whatever you set your mind to, you accomplished it. When you were younger, you were a talented athlete, musician and of course, hairdresser, your dream job. You won medals and awards in gymnastics and hairdressing.

“Your life was too short, but you packed so much into it. You were such a kindhearted, gentle soul who was just so beautiful inside and out.” His older brother Ben called him his “little ray of sunshine,” adding, “You are my best friend. You radiate joy and enthusiasm to everyone around you.”

“You are full of creativity and have spontaneous ideas for fun. You are the light of happiness in any room. You are so kind and caring and are happy to walk in others’ shadows as long as everyone else is smiling. You are the bravest soul and no matter how much you felt different, you were always so loved by everyone.

“Never underestimate the difference you made and the lives you touched. I haven’t told you enough, but I was incredibly proud of you. Always my best friend and my little Bruva Bear.”
