X-Men’s Firestar joins the West Coast Avengers with fiery new cover – Comic book adaptations and superhero movie news

Originally developed for the animated film “Spider-Man and his amazing friends”, Firestar has remained popular since her move to comics in 1985. Since her premiere, she has been a member of both the X-Men and the Avengers. Now, a hot cover by Adam Hughes announces her membership in the latest incarnation of the West Coast Avengers.

Firestar was forever redefined in the pages of X-Men during the Krakoa era. Angelica Jones was a double agent who seemed to be working with the anti-mutant group Orchis while also gathering intelligence for the Mutant Resistance. However, the animosity some still harbor toward her leaves Angelica Jones looking for a fresh start. This leads her west, where she joins Tony Stark and his new team in California. It also leads her to don a new costume, which is shown off well on Hughes’ alternate cover.

Redemption common theme of the West Coast Avengers

Firestar isn’t the only hero joining Iron Man to make a fresh start. The new team also includes War Machine and the Jessica Drew Spider-Woman. The strangest new addition to the team, however, is the android Ultron. Ultron was once one of Marvel’s greatest villains and is looking to make amends for his past as the newest recruit to the West Coast Avengers.

“I’ve been thinking about redemption this year, and we’ll see who can be redeemed on the West Coast,” teased writer Gerry Duggan. “It’s a fun action story, but also an Ultron story – and one of my biggest Marvel swings yet. I’ve previously had the pleasure of writing a pretty great Ultron horror story with Pym’s face on it, and this is a very different story featuring one of my favorite Marvel characters in one of my favorite legacy titles in the city that’s been my home for so long.” Duggan also praised artist Danny Kim, promising that readers will love what Kim “cooks up.”

West Coast Avengers #1 will be released in all comic book stores on November 27, 2024.
