Yes, Color Me Mine is for sale, but not because of the color incident

Overview:

The Color Me Mine store on Main Street has been looking for a new owner for the popular franchise for some time

Until May of this year, you may have never heard of the pottery and painting shop on Main Street. But one fateful afternoon, an employee was filmed pouring ceramic glaze down a drain, and the video soon went viral on social media.

Although it initially looked like an act of disrespect for the environment and many immediately jumped to the wrong conclusion that it must be paint, in reality it was not. However, this did not stop a virtual tirade of abuse and even Death threats by some extremely shady characters on various social media platforms.

Now, three months later, attentive users on Reddit noticed that Color Me Mine is for sale, with user norwegian_noise He wrote on the Santa Monica forum: “It looks like the bad press caused by employees dumping icing into street drains has hit Color Me Mine very hard.”

And while it is true that the business is indeed for sale, it has nothing to do with this unfortunate misunderstanding and has actually been for sale for several years.

“The shop owner has been trying to sell the shop for some time. Unfortunately, there have been some deaths in her family and that has made it very difficult for her to stay here as an owner,” said 25-year-old shop manager Adelaide Gault, adding: “She’s got a lot going on… and she just can’t do it, she can’t do it. So it’s really very much up to me to run her shop for her.”

If the Daily press When I spoke to Gault in May, she was, not surprisingly, dismayed by the death threats she and other staff members were receiving. And even now she seemed visibly exhausted.

Returning to the subject of that earlier inconvenience, Gault said, “As soon as we answered the phone, they started screaming… threatening and cursing at us. And some said, ‘I hope you die.’

“There was even talk of a bomb threat. And there were a lot of really crazy threats, but there were also people who actually listened. And when they listened, you explained the whole situation to them and they said, ‘Oh, I’m glad you’re doing something about it. And that sounds good.’ So when people listened, that was nice, but… not everyone did.”

According to Gault, the shop owner is very hopeful of selling The franchiseleaving a Color Me Mine at the 2525 Main St location. However, she says a sale of the entire site, which would effectively remove the Color Me Mine store, is also out of the question.

“We’ve had some offers, but she really wants to find the right person, the right owner,” Gault said, adding that fortunately the ceramic glaze sink incident does not seem to have diminished interest.

“The great thing was that there was a potential buyer and they … were very supportive and we wanted to sell to them, but I don’t know what came of it, I wasn’t told that … but they were really nice people and they told my store owner not to fire these people or anything like that,” Gault said.

“I love her (the owner) and I care about her very much. And I love the store. This place has shaped so many people from Santa Monica who have visited this store. My experience with Color Me Mine as a child is unforgettable. That’s why I’m here and working so hard and trying to make this store unforgettable for others,” Gault said.

When asked how all this is affecting staff morale, Gault said, “We all understand the difficulties the owner is going through right now, so we’re just trying our best to be a good team for her while she’s going through so much.”

Gault acknowledged that the ongoing uncertainty is not helping Mattress, saying, “I’m trying to keep things in order and do it as professionally as possible in this environment because at the end of the day we don’t have a store owner or any real management, so basically everything is on me at the moment.”

According to the website the asking price for the franchise is $475,000 and the potential gross revenue is $562,755. Interested parties are asked to complete a franchise inquiry at https//colormeminefranchising.com-inquiry for further details.
