Zomato’s new move! Food delivery app introduces ‘order scheduling’ feature – Industry News

Zomato, a food delivery platform, has introduced a new feature called ‘Order Scheduling’ that allows users to plan their meals up to two days in advance. This service is a major improvement to the company’s offering as it is currently available in several major Indian cities.

Zomato CEO and founder Deepinder Goyal announced the launch of this feature on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. Goyal said that initially, over 13,000 restaurants across Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Jaipur will offer the service for orders above Rs 1,000. “These restaurants traditionally stock large quantities of dishes and have demonstrated consistent kitchen preparation time. More restaurants and cities will be added. We will expand this to all orders soon,” Goyal tweeted.

The CEO also hinted at plans to expand this feature, mentioning that it will eventually be available for all orders, regardless of value. In addition, the company plans to increase the number of participating restaurants and cities in the future.

Shortly after Zomato shut down its Legends intercity delivery service, it introduced a new scheduling option. The use of order scheduling is a sign of the company’s continuous efforts to improve and reinvent its services in the highly competitive food delivery industry.

Previously, the company also introduced a new “Group Orders” feature earlier this month to simplify the ordering process for groups. “Group Orders” allows users to create a shared shopping cart without having to exchange phones or manually combine orders.
